EBME Expo 2025 - Shaping the Future of Healthcare

Professor John Sandham, Chair of the EBME Expo, highlights the event’s focus on practical knowledge and best practices in technology management, acquisition, connectivity, use, and maintenance. The Expo aims to demonstrate how optimised healthcare technology contributes directly to NHS productivity, cost-effectiveness and, most importantly, enhanced patient safety.

The EBME Expo returns to the Coventry Building Society Arena on 25-26 June 2025, offering a comprehensive platform for healthcare technology professionals. With an expanded exhibition area and leading international companies displaying cutting-edge medical innovations, this year's event promises to be more impactful than ever.

In the modern hospital, the operating theatre is no longer a standalone environment for surgeons — it has become an interconnected hub where professionals leverage cutting-edge technology to achieve exceptional patient outcomes. This collaborative approach, rooted in a shared commitment to personalised care, is redefining surgical practice and enhancing patient safety.

Today's smart operating theatres are defined by the seamless integration of surgical teams; comprising surgeons, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), nurses, engineers, and data analysts. This collaborative environment fosters a holistic perspective, where technology serves as an extension of the team's collective expertise. Supporting this integration are EBME/ clinical engineers, who manage and maintain the intricate medical technology, ensuring the flawless operation of robotic surgical platforms, advanced monitoring systems, and complex data networks. Crucially, feedback from all operating theatre staff ensures that technology acquisition aligns precisely with clinical demands.
