Regional awards recognise Queen Victoria Hospital’s Electronic Patient Record implementation

Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s Electronic Patient Record teams have been named Digital Transformation Runners‑Up 2026 at the South East Digital Skills Development Network (SEDSDN) Awards.

The joint recognition celebrates the collaborative work of the Trust’s Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) teams, who were highly commended by the judging panel for their strong collaboration, quality and impact. They were noted as being highly regarded among a competitive field of regional digital transformation initiatives.

The award recognises the successful implementation of Archie EPR in November 2025, the Trust’s electronic patient record system, delivered in partnership with Altera Digital Health. Named Archie by staff, as a tribute to the pioneering plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe who carried out life-changing surgery at the hospital during World War II, Archie EPR brings clinical information together in one place, supporting staff to deliver safer, more efficient and more joined‑up patient care.

The announcement followed the South East Digital Skills Development Network Connect Conference 2026, which brought together digital health and clinical leaders from across the region. At the conference, Malcolm Catchpole, Head of EPR at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, shared the Trust’s digital transformation journey, including the implementation of Archie EPR which has been described as “one of the smoothest switches from analogue to digital.”

Tamara Everington, Chief Medical Officer at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This recognition reflects the tremendous effort, dedication and collaboration shown by our EPR and EPMA teams in launching Archie EPR. Bringing clinical information together digitally in one place helps our staff provide safer, more efficient patient care and marks a significant step forward in our digital transformation journey. Archie EPR demonstrates our commitment to patient safety, workforce efficiency and digital innovation, and I am incredibly proud of everyone involved.”
